When is the Library Open?

We are open our regular times through exam week. But the times they are a-changin'!

From December 15 - 23 we will be open:
Monday - Friday 8:30-4:30

We will be closed from December 24 - January 4.

Then January 5 - February 1 we will be open:
Monday - Thursday 8:30-7:30
Friday 8:30-4:30

LexisNexis Academic database - try it out!



LexisNexis Academic is one of the most widely-used databases in academia.

You can access over 6,000 news, business, and legal sources. The outstanding news coverage includes deep backfiles and up-to-the-minute stories in national and regional newspapers, wire services, broadcast transcripts, international news, and non-English language sources. Use the included Company Dossier module to retrieve detailed company information and financial performance measures or identify and compare companies matching specific criteria. This product also provides access to the renowned Shepard's Citations® service for all federal and states court cases back to 1789.

CCBC Library is considering the purchase of this product to replace some of our other databases. Please try it out and tell us what you think.

Essex Campus & Library Phones

This weekend, October 17-19, the IT department will be performing the Essex Campus telephone system upgrade. Telephone service on the Essex campus will not be available during the hardware upgrade of the telephone switch, Friday from 6 p.m. through 8 a.m. Saturday morning.

After 8 a.m. Saturday, Essex telephone service will be available with intermittent outages.

You can access all your favorite library research databases from home or anywhere off campus as long as you use your CCBC ID number and create a password.

Forgot your password? We will email you instructions on how to reset your password (usually your CCBC email address.)

The Library has many, many computers to use all carrying Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint & Excel.
You can also check your email or other applications. Printing is available for .10 per page.

Network outages scheduled! Plan accordingly.

The CCBC Library's computer network will be out of service at the following times:
  • 9/19/08 Friday, between 6:00 pm and 2:00 am
  • 9/21/08 Sunday, between 8:00 pm and 12:00 am
Our catalog, databases, and other services will be largely unavailable during those times.

ARTStor -- another new library research database!


CCBC Library now subscribes to ARTstor, a digital library of nearly one million images in the areas of art, architecture, the humanities, and social sciences.


Find it (and our other reasearch databases) on the Articles from Magazines, Journals and Newspapers under Humanities.

Online renewal of books is now available!

CCBC students, faculty, and other users can now renew materials online by logging into their library accounts. After logging in, Click on the "Checked Out Items" button, then on the "Renew All" button.

A different face for Google. It sorts the results by web pages, images, blogs, videos, all on one screen. It lists just the domain of the site, not the entire URL so you can easily decide if it is authoritative.
